Our Firm:
Marilyn Fisher, CPA opened for business in 1991. Over the past 20 years we have worked hand in hand with CPAs in Douglas, Wyoming, and continue our close relationship with Tracy Boner of CPA Advantage, LLC. Fisher & Weisshaar, LLC is our new name, effective October 1, 2008. While the name has changed, the people remain the same, as does our commitment to being a high quality, full-service public accounting firm.
What sets us apart, we believe, is our firm personality. Our clients know when they come in our office, they will see a friendly face, a smile, and lots of laughter. Yet they also know they can depend on us for our expertise, our integrity, and our attention to detail.
Our Staff:
Marilyn Fisher, CPA
I grew up on a small farm in Sioux County, 17 miles northwest of Crawford, Nebraska. I ventured all the way to Chadron State College, where I graduated with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration. I began working in public accounting in 1986 and passed the CPA exam on the first try in 1988. It is hard for me to believe that it's been 19 years since I opened my own firm in Torrington! I enjoy staying active in my profession, and have served on the board and many committees of the Wyoming Society of CPAs. I also stay involved locally, and am currently on the board of the Goshen County Economic Development Association, the Goshen Care Center Joint Powers Board, and the finance council at St. Rose Catholic Church. My husband is an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad, and our children both attend the University of Wyoming. As a family, we love to golf, fish and go camping.
Trenda Weisshaar, CPA
I was an Air Force brat and had the unique opportunity of being from many places such as Texas, California and Germany. Our family moved to Colorado where I graduated from Stratton High School. I began my college education at Colorado State University right after high school, but actually finished my degree in Accounting in May of 2003 at Regis University in Denver. My husband and I moved to Wyoming in 1995 and I began working for Marilyn as her office manager in 1996. I became a CPA in 2005 and had the unique experience of taking the last paper exam and the first computer exam. I currently serve on the Eastern Wyoming College Business Advisory Committee and the University of Wyoming Parent Association Board. We have three children that fit in the "almost grown" category. Our son just graduated from Warren Wilson College, in Asheville, North Carolina and our daughters both attend the University of Wyoming. We love being from Wyoming - Go Pokes!
Lucas Moore, CPA
I was born in Douglas, Wyoming, but moved with my family to Goshen County in 1991. I graduated from Southeast High School in 2004, and continued my education at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 2008. Following my graduation from UNLV, my wife Jessica and I moved to Laramie, Wyoming where I earned a masters degree in accounting from the University of Wyoming. I received my CPA certification in the Spring of 2010 while practicing at a local accounting firm in Laramie. I grew up in a ranching family and look forward to continuing my involvement in agriculture. My other interests included golf, hunting, and University of Wyoming athletics.
Paula Vaughn, Staff Accountant
I was raised on a ranch outside Cheyenne. We lived in Colorado for my first two years of high school and then moved to Chugwater, where I graduated from high school. I attended EWC for two years and graduated with my Associate’s Degree from Northwest College in Powell in 1994. My husband and I moved to the Lingle area in 1998 where he works in ranching. I enjoyed being at home with our two children as a stay-at-home mom from the time we moved to Lingle until I came to work for Marilyn and Trenda in December 2007. I am currently taking classes to complete my degree in accounting.
Courtney Birkley, Office Manager
I was born and raised here in Torrington and graduated from Torrington High School in 2005. I then pursued my college education at Black Hills State University where I received my degree in Social Sciences and a minor in Psychology in the spring of 2010. While attending college, I married my high school sweetheart and we decided after graduation to move back to Torrington to be close to family. We have been blessed with one daughter who was born in 2010 and another daughter due in March of 2012. My family and I enjoy camping, March Madness and especially watching Colorado Rockies baseball games.
